WORKSHOPS

Eco Drums hold drum making workshops at home, festivals or out and about. All that is needed is a little enthusiasm and a desire to produce the heartbeat of the Mother. At a workshop, participants will be guided through the process of making a musical instrument. The workshop takes one day. The Djembe takes a week to dry before tensioning. It is important for this drying process to occur or the skin can be ruined.
Drum playing tuition or playing for fun is encouraged during and after workshops. Drum playing technique tuition is available and encouraged to prevent permanent damage to hands.

Eco Drums provide tuition at festivals throughout the year. The National in Canberra at Easter. The Dreaming at the Woodford site in June, The Global Carnival at Bellingen in October and Woodford Folk Festival in December. If you have a drum in need of repair or tightening bring it along.

Traditional music skills are not necessary to learn drum playing.  Drumming encourages co-ordination, discipline and confidence. Despite the perception that drumming is only ‘noise’. When control is taught it aids in group participation and the problems associated with learning difficulties. Drumming is beneficial in meditation and relaxation. Emphasis is on the quality of sound through correct technique rather than the volume of sound.

Complete drums are available and can be transported worldwide. Bankcard/ Credit Card facilities are available.
